The facts about Alzheimer’s Disease are staggering:
Tuesday, September 21st is World Alzheimer’s Day, a day set aside each year to raise awareness around the globe about this debilatating disease. This year’s theme is: Dementia, It’s Time For Action since Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia according to the Alzheimer’s Association. It accounts for 60-80 percent of cases of dementia.
The following are some short videos I’ve gathered to shed some light on the disease which include stories from caregivers facing a loved one who has Alzheimer’s: all to further raise awareness.
A very touching video about a husband’s challenges in caring for his wife with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Please consult with a physician if you suspect your loved one has any of the symptoms mentioned in the videos. The Alzheimer’s Association also has a 24/7 Helpline: 1-800-272-3900. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Alzheimer’s affects so many people. Hopefully, increased awareness will lead to better treatment and a cure. Also, I think ALL caregivers can relate to the feelings and experiences of those in the videos, whether their loved ones have Alzheimer’s or another illness.
